ISIS Users Manual
January 16, 1996
The ISIS software was initially developed in the VAX/VMS
environment, but currently is functioning under the VAX/VMS and
UNIX operating systems. A User's Manual for ISIS has been written
for both the VAX/VMS version and the UNIX version.
The VAX/VMS version of ISIS has been used for processing data
produced by the
Near Infrared Mapping Spectrometer (NIMS)
on the Galileo spacecraft,
the Airborne Visible-Infrared Imaging Spectrometer
(AVIRIS), and a number of other imaging spectrometers carried
aboard various other spacecraft and aircraft.
As of October 1995, the UNIX version of ISIS has been operational
for nearly two years and is being used for processing the
large number of lunar images that were returned by the Clementine
spacecraft. The basic capabilities of the UNIX version of ISIS
are essentially identical to the capabilities of the VAX/VMS version,
however, there were many small changes made in the port to UNIX. Some
examples are listed below:
- The size of the spatial dimensions of cube files can now be virtually unlimited.
- Detached labels are now supported.
- The I/O routines have been generalized to allow all application programs to access all three physical storage orders.
- Portable (X Window System) display functions have been added.
