HICUT - Show actual area covered by each image in a Mars 1:500k mosaic
HICUT is the final procedure to be run in the Viking high resolution
mosaic sequence. The output of HICUT is a mosaic which shows the
actual area covered by each image in a Mars 1:500k quadrangle mosaic.
Each input image is stretched to a different specific value and then
mosaicked together. This specific value is indicated by the
parameter START, the default value is 1. The user can enter the
starting number of the first input image listed to change the value.
The parameter FINAL indicates that the complete set of images for a
quadrangle have been mosaicked. When FINAL equals "Y", HICUT will
run the mosaic of stretched images through OUTLINE, which will
outline the borders of each image with the value 254. LEVEL=5 and
PRODUCT_ID="Quad Name" (ex: -90000 or 90000) is added to the keyword
labels of the output mosaic.

ADDITIONAL NOTES:

ParmDescription
FROM
HICUT will mosaic up to 50 files at a time. This procedure
assumes a file extension of .cub for the input files so the
file names must be entered without an extension. The images
will be mosaicked in the order they are listed. Each
image outline will overlay those listed before it.
TO
The name of the output mosaic.
QUAD
This is the quadrangle number which ranges from -90000 to
+90000. The first 3 digits are the center latitude of the
quadrangle to the nearest degree and the second three digits
are the center longitude ranging from 0 to 360.
TOP
This is an option in mosaic, whether the input images are
to be mosaicked on top or underneath the mosaic.
START
START specifies the starting number of the first input image
listed in FROM in the mosaic. Example: If the first input
image is the first image to go into the mosaic, START = 1.
If the first input image is the 21st image to go into the
mosaic, START = 21. This parameter allows you to enter
only one image at a time if desired, just be sure to change
START accordingly.
CLON
Center longitude of mosaic
LAT
Latitude range of mosaic
LON
Longitude range of mosaic
INIT
If INIT=Y then an output file will be created, called the
name given in TO. The file will be all zeros with the size
of the output file determined by the mapping parameters of
the given quadrangle.
FINAL
If FINAL is "Y", this indicates that the last image of the
mosaic is included in the input file list. HICUT will then
run OUTLINE on the mosaic of stretched images.
WORK
Work disk for creating temporary files.
