HiRISE PDS DEMs and ArcMap 9.x

Of course first you need to get some excellent DEMs (aka DTMs):

The steps for folks to use the HiRISE DTMs and JP2 orthos in ArcMap are:

1.) override current HiRISE JP2 projection (which swaps clat and standard_par_1):
First download, unzip, and place this script next to your HiRISE Jp2 images (and matching PDS labels).

2.) convert from PDS IMG to Geotiff (here GDAL will swap or "fix" PDS clat => standard_par_1 for us)
>gdal_translate DTEEC_001481_1875_002167_1880_U01.IMG DTEEC_001481_1875_002167_1880_U01.tif

3.) Until ArcMap plays nicer with GDAL's geotiff (they work much better at ArcMap 10), you can make sure the projection for the GeoTiff works in ArcMap 9.x by:
>cp DT1EC_001481_1875_002167_1880_U01.jp2.aux.xml DTEEC_001481_1875_002167_1880_U01.tif.aux.xml
--make sure this is the same name as the Tiff.

4.) before loading help ArcMap understand the original PDS NULL data value. Run Calculate Statistics on the new geotiff setting the ignore value to "-3.4028226550889E+38". see this image:

tip: check out DEM and Ortho in 3D Analyst. Simply load in 3D analyst and under the DEM and Ortho, set the Base Height Tab to use the DEM - almost instant 3D:

Hi,thare,the example in the post works well.But when I have downloaded some jp2 image from the HiRISE website (http://hirise.lpl.arizona.edu/dtm/dtm.php?ID=ESP_014011_1315),the the image and lbl name are DT2EC_014011_1315_014288_1315_A01.JP2 and DT2EC_014011_1315_014288_1315_A01.LBL,then Itried the script in terminal,but it echoes “ It appears there is no projection in label - skipping”.but in fact in the lbl file ,it specify the MAP_PROJECTION_TYPE = "EQUIRECTANGULAR",To be frank, I have no knowledge of perl,so what's problem and can this perl script works for the other non-DTM jp2 HiRISE images?

BTW, If you are an ENVI user you probably don't need to do this. Just more recent apps which use GDAL like gdal_translate, ArcMap, QGIS, and many others.
